The life of some unsponsored surfer...
Born in the beautiful magic island in the far southern Brazil, surfer-artist Alexandre Morelli is always laughing out loud. Despite the sounds of an urban society, you can easily see that his soul-baring organic art has connections with the ocean. "It's strange, we live an age with electronic music and iPhones and surfing is totally based in aerials and huge death waves, so play an acoustic guitar, shoot film and doing a floater is kinda of an anomaly." After traveling half of the world he moved to California in 2001 and started to produce artistic surf books, all hand written, photographs printed out of film and illustrated with drawings made by himself. "He pours himself into his books" says long time friend and pro-surfer Neco Padaratz. Now, he partnership with Newport beach life-long surfer David Sanford to start a clothing brand called OutraCultura (means Another Culture in portuguese), all based on his crazy irregular artistic world and the results are looking sick! "I'm so excited about this whole deal, my brain still didn't digest what's happening, it's a dream come true." he says modestly. Morelli is a serious surfer and loves a glass of wine or a beer. "I'm not a pro-surfer but I take surfing more seriously than a profession, and I do like a glass of fine pinot noir, it set me free to let my ideas flow out of my heart."
